CAMPING

On the south point of Abayance Bay, we offer tent sites for overnight camping in sizes of 15×15, 14×13 and 12×12.  Campsites may be combined to accomodate larger tents/groups.

Campers have access to BBQ grills and a fire ring onsite, and shower-equipped bathrooms located at The Market convenience store across the parking lot.

NOTE:  Dry camping with vehicles of any type is NOT allowed on the south point campground.

We offer overnight dry camping for camper vehicles and 5th wheels/RVs in our north lot. Vehicles 32′ and under may book reservations directly online. For larger vehicles, please email us to inquire about availability.

Power and sewer/dump services are NOT available at Abayance Bay. A free RV dump site is located at Rexford Bench, just 2 miles away. External gas-powered generators are not permitted at our location.

RV/vehicle campers have access to our shower bathrooms located at the Marina Boat Shop.

Camping Rules & FAQ's

No, all camping is dry camping.

YES! We have two bath houses with flushing toilets and hot/cold showers! We have excellent Glacier fresh well water (high in trace minerals) that will keep you hydrated on your adventures! If you are staying in an RV spot you get access to the bathrooms and showers at the north end of the Marina Service Center building. If you are tent camping on the South Point, then you have access to port-a-potties as well as the bathrooms and showers at the south end of The Market. Showers are $5 for tent campers, and the cost is included for RV campers.

Unfortunately not. We have a gear drop-off area at the entrance to the campground. We ask that you drop your camping gear then park your vehicle in a parking spot prior to setting up your tent. An attendant is more than happy to help you if you have questions about where to park.

Each site reservation is for up to 4 people, kids 5 and under do not count towards your 4. Each site can have a maximum of 2 tents. All guy lines and footprints must not impede into the sites around you. We have the spaces designated/marked by tassels.

Yes! Come on down to The Market at Abayance Bay Marina to buy ice, beverages, snacks, and even enjoy a scoop (or 3) of Sweet Peaks ice cream.

Check-in time is 2 PM.
Check-out time 1 PM.

Abayance Bay Marina prides itself on “the way camping used to be” - simple and fun! All tent and RV sites overlook the pristine waters of Lake Koocanusa, while maintaining the simplicity of boondocking (dry camping). Because of this, we do not have sewage, water, or electric hookups at the sites and have a maximum RV/Trailer length of 32 feet (not including the tow vehicle). There is a dump station guests can use anytime, just down the road at the Rexford recreation area.

We love our furry friends but please keep in mind that we do have some rules in place. Pets must be leashed at all times. Pets are NOT allowed in to the concerts, the restaurant, or on our rental boats. Pets ARE allowed around the Highwater bar during non-concert hours, on the beaches, and on the local trails. Do not leave pets unattended when leaving the campground or attending a concert. If your pets are left unattended in campers, cars, vans, or tents with no climate control, the Sheriff’s Department will be called, and measures taken to ensure your pet is safe. Be considerate of your neighbors; do not leave an unattended barking dog; excessive barking of your dog will result in removal from the campground with no refund. Aggressive dogs are not allowed and if such behavior is reported you will be asked to leave with no refund. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets and for their pet’s actions. Abayance Bay Marina will not be held liable for dog behavior (attacks, barking, property destruction, etc.).

Yes, Montana is bear country, so always be BEAR AWARE! While we have not had many bear encounters inside the campground and we do not require guests to store food in bear boxes, it is always a good idea to keep your food and trash in your car, cooler, or hard-shelled camper to avoid attracting unwanted late-night visitors. PLEASE NEVER KEEP FOOD IN YOUR TENT!!!

Cell service is extremely limited at Abayance Bay Marina. There is Wi-Fi for our guests throughout the entire property. You can find this under the “ABM guest” network. Please follow the prompts to get connected. Most of the time it is better to turn on Wi-Fi calling and put your phone in airplane mode if you need to make phone calls.

Yes, you can bring a portable generator and operate it at your campsite/RV spot. They must be turned off between 10pm and 7am and must be used with a spark arrestor at all times. Please be considerate of your neighbors with regard to your generator noise and exhaust/fumes. At Forest Service discretion during high fire risk/conditions, use of generators may be entirely prohibited. We will update you if we receive those instructions from the Forest Service.

Yes, you must provide your own wood as well as remove any extra that you have left. Campfires are only permitted in the provided fire rings. One is located out on the South Point and the other along the beach north of the stage. If the forest service has implemented any burning restrictions, we will follow their guidance. The staff will inform you if any restrictions are in place and we will monitor the campground to ensure the safety of everyone.

Yes! Please be caution of tents, guy lines, small puppies and children, or anything else that may get burned while using the appliances.

No, but we encourage everyone to purchase a ticket and enjoy the venue, live music, and awesome people if you are staying with us.

Yes! Your camping and RV reservation includes your parking on concert weekends. If your tow vehicle does not fit in your RV spot, then you will need to pay the parking fee or move your vehicle up to the GA parking area by 5 p.m. the day of the concert.
