About Us
The Stewart Family and Partners welcome you to Abayance Bay, on picturesque Lake Koocanusa in NW Montana. Built by Larry Stewart, a longtime resident and local builder, Abayance Bay fulfills his vision to bring accessibility, top-flight hospitality, and world-class recreation to the lake’s shores. Every part of Abayance Bay was thoughtfully crafted to complement the surrounding Kootenai National Forest and celebrate the traditions of this gorgeous region.
Our Vision
On land once taken from the community through eminent domain and later returned in a state of neglect—alongside a series of unfulfilled government promises—we have worked to transform this once-devastated property into a vibrant, functioning facility. Through the dedication and creativity of local talent, we have built a space designed to uplift, inspire, and serve. We now invite others to share in this vision—one rooted in resilience and shaped to ignite hope, creativity, and opportunity for all. We employ local and support local business.

Stock up the boat with drinks, snacks, sunscreens, ice, and more at the Marina Market. The store staff handles watercraft rentals, check-in and check-out, tent camping and overnight parking reservations, boat launch and fuel dock arrangements, in addition to general questions.
